Steps to Encourage Learning

Hi Everyone, my name is Heydi, hope you're well. I wanted to share a couple of things that can help you work in a classroom with all types of students including students with disability. I will tell you a little about myself and how I began this journey of wanting to be a teacher who wants to work in K to 5 classrooms including with any type of disability. For many reasons I was not convinced that I could be able to do this type of job because working with kids is a difficult task, that's what I thought because I have kids myself.. I thought it was like raising your own children, but one day a teacher made me understand that it wasn't. I have three beautiful teenagers one 18-year-old son, my 16-year-old daughter, and my last son who's 13 years old. My 18th-year-old son was diagnosed with autism when he was 2 years old and since then it has been so many challenges, of course, any parent that has a child or an adult with any disability will understand how difficult it could be to raise them especially if they have severe behavior issues.  My son's elementary teacher always encourages parents' involvement and advises parents to get certified with a special needs certification to understand the roof on how to provide the best support for their children. When I decided to do this I had the opportunity to enroll in a program and got a certification for completing hours by doing a module in understanding autism. After taking that course I was able to feel better, and  I now wanted to give you advice on how to help students in classroom steps to encourage learning for all types of kids including those with special needs.

One way to understand how I want to introduce students and help them in a classroom is by letting you know that my educational philosophy of teaching is the following. One way is to allow the students to give me the chance and opportunity of permitting me to help them with the necessary tools, and equipment they each need to succeed in the goals. I also believe that having positive communication with parents and caregivers and their involvement with volunteer help in the school and teacher classrooms will empower their children to comprehend their learning better. They can get involved by helping their kids complete homework or practice lessons as well. Another way is to request support from colleagues when I find myself struggling to teach a lesson for students to meet their goals.

How I plan to teach in a classroom is by first, creating a plan that will allow me to know which material I will be using with the student. Secondly, I will incorporate a lesson plan and test students to be able to have an idea of how my support can help teach the students by providing extra learning activities based on their needs. In addition, I will implement a creativity lesson closure. Furthermore, group activity, pairs students to work on a different material that will require their participation involvement when resolving any classwork assignments. These can help me establish their goals and at the same time, they will incorporate each other's help when working in teams.

When you want to engage students in learning with examples of types of classroom activities, can be embraced by having the student follow a routine. First, I will have a schedule set for each student to follow by doing morning techniques for 5 minutes of physical mind break warm-ups, including breathing techniques, stretching, and meditation practices. I believe that this can prepare the students to feel ready for any lessons assigned to them. Moreover, I'll have different groups of students work on different activities such as practicing IXL and getting better at Khan Academy, another group will be reading books and answering Who, When, Where, and How questions. In addition, other students will be playing the Kahoot game. I'll also be working on a PowerPoint making vocabulary and spelling words with definitions. Everyone in the classroom will have a chance to do all the activities the others are doing in a time frame. These methods of engaging, by playing, being creative, and using their imaginations can help student learning get challenged when they participate with their classmates while working together. Nonetheless, they can achieve lessons done and learned promptly.

The way I can incorporate traditional and cutting-edge technology tools in the classroom to support teaching and learning is by incorporating methods that can make it easy for the students to learn and understand how to navigate technology. One way is to get again, parents involvement by creating workshops, and having tutoring for students to learn the website system. Using multimedia computers and laptops. Smartboards and Interactive Whiteboards, with this you can use and have control with a pen, pointer fingers, or handheld devices. Having a good Wi-Fi connection in a classroom and school will involve students' participation in learning experiences when they are doing projects that can be accessed all the time. I will provide online concepts to be reviewed at home. Moreover, have the students learn how to use  Educational Apps. This can allow the student to review any lessons that were taught throughout the week. Encourage students to integrate by also playing educational games. You can create chances for the student to learn by doing things hand over hand.

The way I will evaluate the use of technology is by advising the importance of how to use any device in school and at home in a most safe way for the student's safety and to not be targeted by cyberbullying. First, I will make sure that they comprehend the policy, I'll walk around the classroom to check that every student is working on their assigned assignment. Students will be allowed to navigate, YouTube instructional videos, and other safe websites that are recommended by the Department of Education. Incorporating applications in the lesson plan that I will be assigning can give me an idea how to controlled their website usage.  The policy has to be addressed as well requirement for parents' signatures so they understand what's been implemented during school hours for their children. I'll be sure to be blocking sites that the students shouldn't have. The unnecessary websites Should be monitor by the school and districts. Engaging the students with any technology used in the classroom has to be done with the utmost safety responsibility, respectfully and ethically. Parents have the right to engage and save their kids' privacy from being targeted by cyberbullying, They can access the website made for the Cyber-Bullying Prevention Act. Providing workshops for parents and student is another way to keep students empowered to be alerted.
